HOW TO DELETE YOUR BROWSING HISTORY
Internet browsers keep a record of the websites visited and searches made. If you’re concerned that someone may discover that you visited a certain site, it’s possible to erase these tracks.
DELETE YOUR BROWSING HISTORY
To delete all traces of the sites you have visited, choose one of the following steps according to the browser you’re using.
Microsoft Internet Explorer
- Open the “Tools” menu in the top right corner
- Choose “Safety”
- Click on “Delete browsing history”
- Check “History” and “Cookies and website data”
- Click “Delete”
- Close the dialog box
You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Delete to open the “Delete browsing history” dialog box.
Mozilla Firefox
- Open the “Tools” menu in the top right corner
- Choose “Options” > “Privacy” > “History”
- Click on “Clear your recent history”
- Check “Browsing & Download history” and “Cookies”
- Choose the time range to delete
- Click “Clear now”
- Close the dialog box
You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Delete to open the “Clear your recent history” dialog box.
Safari
- Click on the “Safari” menu in the top left corner
- Click on “Clear history”
- Choose the time range to delete
- Click “Clear history”
Chrome
- Open the “Tools” menu in the top right corner
- Choose “History”
- Click on “History”
- Click on “Clear browsing data”
- In the “Basic” tab, check “Browsing history” and “Cookies and other site data”
- Click “Clear data”
You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Delete to open the “Clear browsing data” dialog box.
DELETE AUTOCOMPLETE INPUTS
To delete all traces of words entered into search engines, choose one of the following steps according to the browser you’re using.
Microsoft Internet Explorer
- Open the “Tools” menu in the top right corner
- Choose “Internet Options,” then the “Content” tab
- In the “AutoComplete” section, click on “Settings”
- Click on “Delete AutoComplete history”
- Check “Form data” and click “Delete”
- You can also uncheck the “Forms” box in the “AutoComplete Settings” dialog box to prevent storage of this information in the future.
- Click “OK” to close the dialog box.
Mozilla Firefox
- Open the “Tools” menu in the top right corner
- Choose “Options” > “Privacy” > “History”
- Click on “Clear your recent history”
- Check “Form & Search history”
- Choose the time range to delete
- Click “Clear now”
- Close the dialog box
Safari
- Open the “Safari” menu and choose “Preferences”
- In the appearing menus, choose “AutoFill”
- Look for the “Other forms” line and click the “Edit” button
Chrome
- Open the “Tools” menu in the top right corner
- Choose “History”
- Click on “History”
- Click on “Clear browsing data”
- Go to the “Advanced” tab and check “Autofill form data”
- Click “Clear data”
